Average White Band are widely regarded as one of the best soul and funk bands in the history of music. Though perhaps
best known for their timeless instrumental mega-hit 'Pick Up the Pieces' the band's strength actually lay in
their consistently accomplished song-writing, stretching across several gold selling albums and multigrammy
nominations for the legendary Atlantic Records. Somewhat incongruously, given their Scottish
roots, the six piece took the influences of their R&B heroes - people like Marvin Gaye, James Brown,
Donny Hathaway and others - and developed their own 'authentic' sound which was eagerly adopted by
black audiences in the US and elsewhere. See The Average White Band Friday, July 15th at 9:00pm!

Named in honor of a sketch by the Monty Python comedy troupe, this 4-piece band of Santa Barbara, CA high
school cronies came to be known as Toad the Wet Sprocket in 1986. To this day, their mellow, melodic folk-pop
sound made them one of the most successful alternative rock bands of the early 1990s.
Singer Glen Phillips, guitarist Todd Nichols, bassist Dean Dinning, and drummer Randy Guss spent time honing
their skills in area bars. Then, in 1988, they entered a nearby studio and came out with their debut LP, Bread and
Circus. Recorded in just 8 days and for a cost of $650, this inaugural recording was originally sold in Santa Barbara
area record stores as a home- made cassette.

Watching Eclectic Approach you get the same feeling as when you walk into a really great party; people are
dancing, groovin’ and letting the good times roll. “We bring a really positive message with our music and live
show. We want people to have a great time and walk away feeling better about life.” It’s a great philosophy
for a band to have, and has proven effective as their name spreads like wildfire across the Northwest and
beyond.

You may not know Kris Orlowski - yet - but that’s ok. Sometimes things take time to
grow, and he’s already turning some influential heads.
You see, Orlowski has an uncanny knack for ending up in the right
place at the right time - not to mention an uncanny flair for crafting
emotionally rich songs that will have you tapping your toes even as
your heartstrings are being tugged. He recently wowed a
marquee-level peer over a campfire. It’s easy to see why - unless
you’ve had your heart surgically removed, these are songs that will
move you. See Kris Orlowski at www.krisorlowski.com |

RubberBand is a perfect name for Ryan Shupe
and his band of amazing musicians. The group from Salt Lake City is
known for its ability to stretch out musically in all
directions, pinging back and forth with a joyful
spontaneity most bands could barely imagine,
let alone achieve. Each member possesses
years of experience on his respective instrument
and when the band comes together on tunes
like the bouncy “Don’t Leave Me Lonely,” or the
frenetically fun title track, “Last Man Standing,”
their collective talent is explosive and
undeniable! Catch Ryan Shupe and The RubberBand at www.shupe.net |

The Young Dubliners are excited for the release of Saints and Sinners, their second album on 429 Records--and first batch of original material since 2005's critically acclaimed Real World. After taking an exciting retro, rootsy labor of love detour to give a shout out to the masters of Irish song past and present on their 2007 429 Records debut "With All Due Respect, The Irish Sessions", the Young Dubliners drew inspiration from the trials and tribulations of the past few years on the road where they have encountered their share of, to borrow from an Irish proverb, "poets and patriots, saints and sinners", for the new album. Basin Summer Sounds is proud to welcome back Hamilton Loomis. “If blues, soul, and rock can be said to form a triangle, you’ll find Hamilton Loomis right in the center of it”, says Guitar Player Magazine. An apt description, as young Loomis is one of the young artists at the forefront of bringing blues based American music into the 21st century and redefining it for a contemporary audience. Spanning youth and tradition, Loomis bridges the gap between generations of music-lovers both in the U.S. and around the world.
